Bio: I've been riding since I was a wee lad and started racing at 16. Since then I've worked in plenty of bike shops and was a guide/mechanic in Thredbo for 4 years. I enjoy all types of riding, especially downhill and going for a relaxing afternoon skatepark or street session.
Bikes: A Specialized Demo 8 and a hardtale at the moment!
Fav Ride: Anywhere in or around Jindabyne, there are hundreds of top spots to session!
Fav Race: Any race that has shuttles or a chairlift.....pushing back up the hill sucks.
Bio: rode my first bike at 4 years old and was lucky to have trails at the end of the street. BMX's rocked. Then I progressed to 26". I have been a Bike Messenger in Sydney for a few too many years where I've ridden many types of bikes including cargo bikes. I love riding with mates or my family and compete in Enduros fairly regularly, prefering longer 12 or 24 hour Solo events.
Bikes: Redline 925, Redline Monocog, On-one Inbred, a 24" unicycle, Old Post Porteur, some BMX's, some Speedwells, some Malvern Stars, some tandems + others (santa bought me a geared bike though). But what I really want is......
Fav Ride: Glenrock, Killingworth, Awaba, Ourimbah in no particular order, but with good company.
Fav Race: 12 Hours of Darkness, 24 Hour Solo Nats, 10 Hour Vestal Virgin
Bio: I used to be a Downhiller for 6 years on and off, until I was convinced by the wonderful City Rail service to try commuting to work by bicycle. After a while I started riding some XC, and before long I was racing pretty regularly with the WSMTB club, which went a fair bit better than any of my DH racing ever did!
4 years on I’m racing in the Elite category for team BMC in 2008, so you’ll see me at pretty much any XC race in NSW.
Bikes: A Team KHS 904, the only XL one in Australia (I’m 2 meters tall, unfortunately) , a BMC roadie, a Cannondale Team Issue Rush sitting in the shed begging to be loved, and my poor KHS Soft tail, set up as a single speed with the cheapest, oldest parts I could find. The 904 will get swapped for a BMC Fourstroke FS02 as soon as the can find enough aluminum to build one big enough for me.
Fav Ride: Random loops around the Blue Mountains (Not the oaks!!!), anything in a pine forest.
Fav Race: 2005 National champs, simply ‘cause I won my category!
Bio: Santa gave me my first Redline BMX at 8yrs and have loved all kinds of riding ever since. Competed at 8 world champs for Aus in artistic cycling. Best result was 13th. Race DH,XC and Enduro
Bikes: Mongoose NX9.7, Orange 223, Bear D/H with Mr Dirt forks, Scott genius 40, unicycle, Clamont roadie, Walter artistic bike and Giant Reign 0
Bio: Jason has blasted onto the MTBing scene with some great results on the Solo 24 hour scene. Recent results include a win in the 2008 Australian National Solo 24 Hour Championships and 2nd in the 2008 World 24 Hour Championships. Check out his website for more info
Bio: I first got into mountain biking because the guys at my local bike shop told me I wasn't a roadie. Not even knowing what a mountain bike was at the time, it quickly became a massive addiction and led me toward the lifestyle I live and love today. I race regularly and have achieved regular podiums at endurance events individually and with some really fun teams, and I won the NSW State Cross-Country Series in 2008 and 2009. I enjoy working with AMBC as it always gives me a buzz to watch people's confidence grow as the day progresses. I'm looking forward to watching the Women's Development Program take off and encourage more girls to enjoy the fun experiences riding offers.
Bikes: Merida 96 5000-D super carbon, super bling MTB, Merida Scultura Evo 907-com road bike for bitumen days and a ten year old Mongoose MTB for stealth commuting.
Fav Ride: Any day out with great friends, tech trails, continuous riding and a coffee stop to start and a pie stop to finish with.
Fav Race: I think every race is my favourite for different reasons. Sometimes it's really exciting to see how hard you can ride (and how proud you feel on the other side of it) and sometimes I just love heading out to a local event to catch up with so many riding friends in one place.
Bio: I've had a bike of some sort since I was at school but I used it more for transport than anything else. Then I discovered mountain biking about 3 years ago and I am well and truly hooked. Biking with friends is just a brilliant way to spend the day!
Bikes: Just the one at the moment - a Giant xtc1. Thinking about buying a dualie though
Fav Ride: Hmmm theres a few. Wisemans Ferry, Ourimbah, Awaba and Appin for starters. It's always better when there's somewhere nearby for a post ride beer
Fav Race: The Angry Doctor in Mogo is probably up there because it was my first 50k, I managed to get slightly lost and ended up doing about 65k
Bio: I've been racing for over 15 years, started as a junior in both DH and XC but moved to XC as a senior. I spent 6 months in the US and Europe in 1997 racing in World Cups and have made it to 3 World Championships. I stopped racing XC after the 2000 state titles at a snow-filled course at Lithgow which I won. These days I compete in Adventure racing with Mont Crank in events like XPD in Tassie, & numerous 24 & 48hr events. I've done every Mont 24 in every division and have stood on every step of the podium, the best being in the 1st year as a 3-person team (fastest lap and most laps covered) & 3 Mont Solo’s placing 2nd at my first attempt. I've also taken out the Polaris with Mike Meryment.
Bikes: i have taken on the single speed world.with a sexy new S.I.R 9 along with my older heavier Charge Duster SS.
a fresh paint job on my Kona King Kikapo when gears are needed.an old revived stump Jumper 1991 model for the weekday commutes.and a Cannondale System 6 for those sat bunch rides.
Fav Ride: For big rides with hills you can’t go past Kanangra (and the odd flat ride) or anything local (Sydney) for great sandstone single track
Fav Race: As far as the best feeling after a race, it must be the Mont 24 in '03 crossing the line in 2nd and the MTB VTT in France
Bio: I was a veterinarian specialising in Emergency and Critical Care (studying in Philadelphia) until 2002...while in the US of A, an unfortunate encounter with a car left me broken (literally) and back in Oz contemplating my navel. I took up mountain biking in 2003, sold my soul for a face full of titanium and backed off on the work thing to try and establish a 'healthy balance'....now I work to ride and life is absolutely saladsational.
Bio: Starting riding as a kid on a dragster turned into a bmx, then a bmx and then a racer, with many spills along the way, took a hiatus after I got my first car and started riding again after moving to the UK in 2001 and bought my first mountain bike to keep fit, did my first 100km in Wales and got beaten by a 130kg 65 year... I've got better since then...
Bikes: giant xtc, Commencal Essence, Cube HPC AMS 100, Felt Team9... maybe something new coming soon as long as (n + 1) = (s - 1)
Fav Ride: Stromlo, Ourimbah, Paterson so far...
Fav Race: Paterson, Stromlo and anything else with lots of single track
Bio: I got my first taste of MTB back in the Klunker days in high school on an outdoor ed camp and was instantly hooked. It was like a big BMX with gears. So got my first MTB in ‘88 and have been riding ever since. I pretty much got into everything, bar trials. I have raced XC, DH, dual slalom, 4X, 16” kids bikes, alleycats, you name it. I even recently came second to Paul Begg in the Thredbo Open wheelie comp! I spent my younger days riding dirt bikes, racing Enduros and motocross, but eventually jumped to full time MTBer, and it is like the next level, you become the motor!
Bikes: I currently have 14 bikes to my name ( a little excessive I know). My faves would be the GT iDrive 5, ‘03 Specialized P3, and my recently built GT Transeo 700c commuter with disc brakes, riser bars, and SRAM 10spd double-tap. Sweeet! I don’t do off-the-shelf bikes, I get a frame like a blank canvas and work my magic to end up with exactly the bike I want. Like the last of the V8 interceptors; “a piece from here and a piece from there!” Ooooohhyeeaahh!
Fav Ride: Castlemaine, the Dandenong ranges, Rotorua NZ, and Aido’s local trails for sure! My ‘75 HJ Panel-van is definitely a fave ride also.
Fav Race: Cutting loose with your mates on some krankin’ trails. There is no finish line in sight, and the race never ends!
Bio: Been playing with Mountain Bikes since 1997. Singlespeeding Lad at heart that's a lad no more. Loves riding, trail advocacy and time with my family.
Bikes: Cannondale 1FG (singlespeed), Cannondale Rize, Cannondale 29ner Flash, Cannondale R1000 (Roadie) mmhh too many Cannondales......
Fav Ride: Any rides with singletrack minded folks! But really there are too many to list.
Fav Race: Pretty much any race from pointy elbow short track, any singlespeed race local, Nats or Worlds to 8, 12 and 24 hours races and the longer enduros.
Bio: Started off around 10 years ago – my husband & I shared one bike (a pink Apollo which was far too big). We'd swap places after ½ of riding – one of us would ride and one would sit in the bush and count ants) - we both got hooked. Initially tried every mountain bike event possible within the vicinity of Sydney/Canberra and now compete in adventure racing as well. I've ridden the Hume and Hovell Explorers Track over 7 days. Competed in some of the National Rounds a few years ago – and won (masters women category only 2 riders!)
Bikes: Cannondale Prophet 3000, Cannondale Six 13 road bike, Proflex Beast now converted to a hardtail commuter bike, our original Apollo now a statue commanding front yard position!
Fav Ride: Anywhere in the middle of nowhere, as long as I have my bike and good company. Love exploring new territory
Fav Race: Polaris Challenge was my very first race 8 years ago so I have a certain devotion towards it. The 12hr at Yarramundi, 24hr Dargle and Canberra, any short course adventure race – so this probably covers just about everything!
Real Job: Works 2 days/week in Radiology and plays 3 days on my bike (that’s hard work!)
Bio: I started riding over 10 years ago and have been obsessing about bikes and biking ever since. Originally riding socially with friends I started competing in XC races like the NSW State Championship Series races (winner 2003 Masters category), the Canberra 24 Hour Race (1st in the 6 women cat, 1st in the 4 women cat, and 2nd in the 3 women cat) and the various 6, 8 and 12 hour races. After “retiring” from racing I rediscovered the joy of an epic day on the bike exploring the bush and the fun of the old familiar Manly Dam.
Bikes: Yeti ASR, Cannondale F100 (now a singlespeed), and a roadie
Fav Ride: Anything with technical singletrack and friends
