The course

Designed by mountain bike professionals, this course is aimed at reinforcing the fundamental skills and abilities required to get the most out of your riding. It will further develop basic techniques needed for all types of mountain bike riding and get you ready to hit the trail with more confidence and ability.

We understand that riding confidence is important at this stage of riding development. The activities undertaken as part of this course are designed to give you not only the skills but the experience to ride in different terrain.

We have fully trained, accredited, professional and friendly staff who will ensure you enjoy the experience of learning how to ride a mountain bike properly.

What you will learn

  • Setting up your bike properly
  • How a mountain bike works
  • Tackling different terrain (sand, roots, rocks, dirt)
  • Cornering safely and at speed
  • Balance
  • Tackling small obstacles
  • Negotiating small drops safely
  • Open climbs and technical climbs
  • Safe descending - open and single track descents
  • General trail riding- easy
  • Basic bike maintenance

How Long ~ The course is run in a 6 hour session
Cost ~ $140

Restrictions

Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Our trainers are there to make sure you ride within your ability and support you with the techniques to reduce risk and potential injury.

If you have particular goals or concerns prior to the course then our trainers are happy to discuss and modify activities to suit.

* AMBC recommends that your bike be fully serviced by a qualified bike mechanic before you attend the course.
